FAQ

Common questions

Estimates only — not personal tax advice. See also tax brackets, HELP / HECS and Medicare.

Why don’t period figures equal annual ÷ periods exactly?

Each pay frequency uses ATO PAYG formulas: weekly/fortnightly/monthly use Schedule 1 (y = ax − b); daily uses the casual daily method (ignore cents × 5); hourly splits the weekly amount by your hours. Annual figures use full-year tax after offsets like LITO.

Is this the same as my payslip?

Not always. Employers use ATO withholding schedules that can differ slightly from a full-year tax estimate. Use this for planning; your payslip and tax return are the official figures.

Is super taken from my take-home?

Usually no. The Super Guarantee is paid by your employer on top of ordinary time earnings. It is shown separately unless you select “Salary includes super”.

Do you include LITO?

Yes for annual income tax where it applies (taxable income under about $66,667). It reduces income tax only — not Medicare or HELP.
